I’ve worked as an Internet Technology Patents Expert Witness in numerous cases over the years.
I’ve been working the Internet since 1993, when I authored the best-selling Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Internet (I did a total of seven editions of that book over the next 7 or years). Back then, there were literally around 200 Web sites in the entire world, so I’ve watched the development and growth of the commercial Internet in its entirety. My online experience goes back even further, to 1984, when I was working with Compuserve and BBS (Bulletin Board) systems.
Since 1993 I’ve worked in a variety of roles on the Web and Internet. I set up my first ecommerce Web site in 1998, started an ecommerce service provider–funded by one of the world’s largest Venture Capital firms–worked as VP of Web Solutions for a national ISP, and VP of Marketing for a Web applications development firm. I’ve worked in Pay Per Click advertising, banner advertising, social media, email newsletter publishing, Web development…
As for my work as an Internet Technology Patents Expert Witness, I’ve worked on literally dozens of patent cases–litigation, IPRs, CBMs–that have some kind of Internet technology or digital marketing aspect, such as:
